Today in country music history:

2005 - Faith Hill had the number one album in the country with Fireflies, her third consecutive album to reach the top spot on both the country and Billboard album charts.

1958 - Elvis Presley’s mother Gladys died of a heart attack at age 42.  Elvis was so overcome with grief at her funeral that he could not stand up and had to be supported.
