2005 Kenny Chesney married actress Renee Zellweger on the island of St. John. They met in January. In September, the couple got an annulment.
2001 Kenny Rogers received a Career Achievement Award from the Academy of Country Music during the 36th annual ACM Awards in Los Angeles.
1998 - Garth Brooks hit number one on the country chart with Two Piña Coladas.
1998 Martina McBride brought her six-week-old daughter Emma to the Grand Ol Opry with her. Martinas mom held the baby backstage while Martina sang Valentine.
1992 - Brooks & Dunn ascended to the top of the country radio chart with Neon Moon.
1989 - Keith Whitley died of alcohol poisoning. The same day, Tim McGraw arrived in Nashville.
