Today in country music history:

2010 - Lady Antebellum's album Need You Now was released.

2003 - The Dixie Chicks sang the national anthem and Shania Twain performed "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" and "Up!" at Super Bowl 37 in San Diego.

2001 - Reba McEntire took over as "Annie Oakley" in Annie Get Your Gun on Broadway.

1997 - Mary Chapin Carpenter sang "Down at the Twist and Shout" during the pre-game of Super Bowl 31 in New Orleans.

1992 - Hillary Clinton defended her husband Bill Clinton on 60 Minutes, but she offended the "First Lady of Country Music" when she said, quote, "I'm not sitting here like some little woman standing by my man like Tammy Wynette."

1979 - The Dukes of Hazzard debuted on CBS with Waylon Jennings as "The Balladeer." He also sang the theme song.

1947 - Hank Williams wrote "I Saw the Light."
