1999 - The state of Missouri celebrated Porter Wagoner Day, honoring the country singer.
1997 - Trisha Yearwood was joined on stage by her duet partner and pal, Garth Brooks, at her concert in Lynden, Washington. They married in 2005.
1994 - John Michael Montgomery country version of the pop hit "I Swear" was certified gold.
1993 - Vince Gill picked up eight nominations for the CMA Awards and Alan Jackson's name was mentioned seven times.
1989 - Patty Loveless picked up her first number one hit "Timber, I'm Falling in Love."
