2005 - Montgomery Gentry's Troy Gentry had surgery at Baptist Hospital in Nashville to repair torn ligaments in his left knee. He sustained the injuries in a horse-riding accident five days earlier.
2005 - The film Wedding Crashers premiered with Dwight Yoakam in a supporting role.
2004 - Loretta Lynn earned three nominations for the annual Americana Music Awards.
2003 - Pat Green's Wave on Wave album was released.
2003 - Brooks & Dunn's Red Dirt Road album hit stores.
1998 - Alan Jackson's "I'll Go on Loving You" video premiered.
1995 - Aaron Tippin married his wife, Thea, in a traditional Greek ceremony in Nashville.
1986 - Columbia Records dropped Johnny Cash after 28 years. He signed with Polygram the next year.
1980 - Linda Ronstadt made her theater debut in Gilbert & Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance in New York City.
1961 - Bill Anderson became a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
